Summer Vacation Scheme

Our summer vacation schemes are designed to make you really feel a part of our firm and get a genuine insight into what it is like to work with us.

Working alongside a partner or associate – who will supervise, direct, and coach you – you’ll also be matched with a current trainee to help you to settle in. This support will ensure that you get the most out of your time with us and get involved in a host of exciting and challenging projects.

You’ll be included in every aspect of working life, from departmental events to firm-wide training sessions, as well as research, drafting, minute taking and meeting arrangements. You could also work directly with our clients.

We run a full programme of information events, skills sessions and social events so you will be sure to be busy.

In London, we run two schemes each two weeks in length and in Bristol we offer one scheme lasting for one week.

You’ll receive £300 per week in London and £250 per week in Bristol.

What our interns said:

“In both of my seats I felt truly valued and part of the team. I was given real work that contributed to ongoing cases, sometimes involving quite a high level of responsibility and independence.” Josephine, Summer 2015 intern

“One of the best things about Simmons & Simmons is its collegiate atmosphere. The trainees, associates and partners whom I worked with were not only friendly, but they wanted to help me, and each other, develop. For me, this meant being able to get as much work exposure as possible and receiving constructive feedback, which I find crucial for my development.” Jacqueline, Summer 2015 intern

"I loved the fact that everyone was so approachable – I could knock on doors, have a friendly chat and regularly take on new and increasingly challenging work. This, I believe, only pays testament to the level of commitment and enthusiasm the firm consistently shows towards the quality of experience and development of its vacation schemers, as well as its trainees ordinarily." Robert, Summer 2015 intern

“The past three weeks has flown by in a flurry of workshops, court visits and socials and I have enjoyed every moment! The vacation scheme has been fantastic, providing lots of opportunities to experience trainee life first-hand at Simmons & Simmons.” Sian, Summer 2015 intern
