Assessment Process

If you're applying to either the winter or summer vacation schemes or our training contracts, the application process is as listed below. The application process for our spring insight scheme is an online application form and judgement test and video interview only.

If you need any reasonable adjustments to be made at any stage of our process, please get in touch to let us know. We’ll gladly do all we can to help you perform to the best of your ability.

Here's a bit more detail on what to expect from our application process:

Stage 1: Online application form & online judgement test

  • Our online application form is designed to allow us to find out more about you. It will ask you about your academics, work experience, interests and activities as well as your motivation for applying to us.

You will be asked to create an online account with cvMail, so you will have the opportunity to save your work and review before submitting it.

Once you have submitted your application, you will then be asked to complete an online judgement test. The judgement test will give you a series of real life scenarios with a number of different options to choose from and looks at how you like to work to see if you’re a good match for us.

Once we’ve received both your application and your online judgement test we’ll consider both carefully, and get back to you as soon as possible. If we feel you have the potential to become part of Simmons & Simmons, we’ll ask you to complete our stage two assessment.

Stage 2: Online ability tests and video interview

  • Our online logical and verbal reasoning ability tests are completed remotely. Before the start of each test, you will have the chance to complete a practice question to familiarise yourself with the format. Free practice tests are also available at www.trytalentq.com if you would like to have a go before completing the real thing. You may be re-tested if invited through to our stage three assessment.

After you have finished your online ability tests, you'll then complete a short video interview. You'll be able to complete this in your own time and will be asked a number of competency questions.

If you’re successful after this stage, you’ll be invited in to complete the final elements of our assessment at our CityPoint offices in London.

Stage 3: Assessment Centre

  • The final stages of the assessment take place during an assessment centre and comprise of:

    • Document exercise and competency interview
    • Written exercise
    • Interactive exercise
